Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Kalam Abdul Momen has said that he had urged the Indian government to help Dhaka maintain stability and harmony.

The minister told journalists on Friday that Bangladesh wanted stability and “if we [Bangladesh and India] can do this, it will be meaningful in this golden chapter of our relations,” according to Dhaka Tribune. He said he had informed the Indian government that there were some people in both countries who make instigative remarks and create issues out of minor things.

He said that the governments of both countries need to identify and stop those people. “If we can do that, there will be communal harmony and there will be no uncertainty,” he added.

He said that Bangladesh remains stable whenever Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in power. “The development journey remains uninterrupted when there is stability,” he added.

Momen had urged India to take steps to help Bangladesh maintain stability and harmony earlier on Thursday. He said he had told the Indian government that Dhaka will continue to develop and become a country free of communalism under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
