Pakistan government has begun a widespread crackdown on the Baloch activists in the lead up to the Baloch National Gathering in Gwadar. More than a 100 activists arrested, internet has been shutdown in Gwadar, Section 144 imposed in Quetta and Red Zone sealed in the provincial capital. For this discussion, Rabia Mehmood speaks to Mir Mohammad Ali Talpur, a senior Baloch author, analyst and activist affiliated with the Balochistan rights campaign since the 1970s, on why the Baloch were gathering in the coastal city. Talpur explains the Gathering is an expression of Baloch resentment based on decades of State betrayal, that Gwadar symbolizes the theft of Balochistan's resources and disenfranchisement of its residents. He added that the State of Pakistan considers all Pakistani citizens its enemy, not just the Baloch.
