At least 100 Palestinians were killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza on Tuesday, with hundreds more injured, said Palestinian Health Ministry spokesperson Ashral al-Qidra.

The UN Children's Agency has warned that more children may die as a result of a lack of potable water in southern Gaza.

According to UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, displaced children in southern Gaza have less water than their basic survival needs.

"Without safe water, many more children will die from deprivation and disease in the coming days," Russell said.

"Children and their families are having to use water from unsafe sources that are highly salinated or polluted."

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) chief condemned the Gaza conflict on Tuesday as a "moral failure" of the international community and urged Israel and Hamas to strike a fresh cease-fire agreement.

"I've been speaking of moral failure because every day that this goes on is another day that the international community hasn't proven capable of ending such high levels of suffering, and this will have an impact on generations, not just in Gaza," ICRC president Mirjana Spoljaric told journalists in Geneva after visits to Gaza and Israel.

"There's nothing without an agreement between the two sides, so we urge them to keep negotiating," she stated, alluding to the release of Israeli hostages carried to Gaza by Hamas during their assault in southern Israel on October 7.

"The releases in themselves are highly complex, highly sensitive missions."
