The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the Karachi Police Office (KPO) attack after conducting raids in the Al-Asif Square area of Sohrab Goth, on the outskirts of Karachi.

The CTD conducted raids at multiple locations after geofencing data identified several facilitators of the terror attack that traumatized the city on Friday.

A case of the terrorist attack has also been registered against the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban at a Counter Terrorism Department police station.

According to sources, an intelligence tip led to raids, during which three individuals were detained and moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Sources said few mobile SIM cards have been recovered from the suspects who have been detained, adding that more than 100 mobile numbers have been flagged as suspicious by geofencing. "At least 10 to 12 of the 100 numbers have been turned off since then."

On the other hand, law enforcement agencies have obtained the CCTV footage of the Karachi Police Office attack. According to the video, the terrorists stormed the Karachi Police Office around 7:15 p.m., opening fire on the constable guarding the main gate between the mosque and the Karachi Police Office and then throwing hand grenades.

The terrorists shot Amjad Masih, a janitor, before reaching the first floor and again hurled grenades.

Meanwhile, the police commandos took positions and gave a befitting response to the attackers. A major exchange of fire took place on the first and second floors of the Karachi Police Office.

According to officials quoting eyewitnesses, three terrorists jumped out of the car outside the police lines and climbed the wall of the Karachi Police Office by cutting the barbed wire.

Witnesses also mentioned the presence of two other individuals who met the attackers outside the premises of the Karachi Police Office before they entered and then rode off on a motorcycle.
