Four young Pashtun activists were targeted and killed by an unidentified motorcyclist in a village of Mir Khan, North Waziristan.

The four activists have been identified as Youth of Waziristan leader Waqar Ahmed, National Democratic Movement (NDM) affiliated Sunaid, and two of their friends Asad and Hammad.

According to reports, the four men were travelling in a car, when an unknown motorcyclist approached their vehicle and gunned them down. All four men died on the spot.

No militant or terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Chairperson NDM Mohsin Dawar in a tweet announcing the gruesome incident said that the state must stop engaging with terrorists at the cost of lives of ordinary citizens.

In a separate tweet, he said that NDM will be organizing protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab to be held today (Monday), in order to protest not just the murders but also the recent wave of target killings in the region.

He further requested all political parties and civil society activists to join their protests.

The recent increase in target killings in the tribal belt have alarmed residents of the region. It is pertinent to note that the Pakistani government has been engaging in 'peace' talks and negotiations with the banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who have been demanding the reversal of the FATA merger as part of their negotiation requirements.
