Punjab caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi warned that police will response equally if it is attacked against, as he recalled the manhandling of the personnel during the past week, on Monday.

A day earlier, Islamabad police booked PTI chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders for the violence outside Islamabad's Judicial Complex. Some 38 people in total were held for damaging state property.

Clashes broke as the former premier appeared in the court for a hearing into the Toshakhana reference.

While hearing the case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal cancelled the warrants issued for Imran in the Toshakhana reference and summoned him on March 30. The judge also postponed PTI chief's indictment in the case.

Addressing the presser today, the chief minister said any further manhandling of personnel will see an equal response.

He also announced that the government has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the events of the past week.

Naqvi added that the LEA has been unable to implement the court directive as they didn't enter the PTI chief's Zaman Park residence.

Criticising the ex-premier's conduct, CM Naqvi said that police security given to him can be withdrawn.

Police, he maintained, cannot offer protection to someone and safeguard an individual who is verbally abusing them.

The CM said he has given the police chief full powers to do what he deems appropriate to deal with a mistreatment with the police. "I won’t interfere," he added.

He recalled that no political party reacts the way that they [PTI] did during the agitation. "We have to establish the state's writ at all costs."

"Political activity is a right but no one can take an aggressive approach,” he said, while referring to the violence.

CM Naqvi said the provincial government has also decided to write to the ECP about the matter. On the occasion, he announced compensation for the personnel injured in the clashes.

Imran's nephew held

Meanwhile, PTI's focal person on legal affairs and Imran Khan's nephew, Hassaan Niazi was held from outside the Judicial Complex.

Niazi and other PTI supporters were booked on Sunday for their alleged hand in the clashes outside the complex.
