The meeting took place at the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Mosque in Lahore which is currently observing a three-day the urs of the party’s founder Khadim Hussain Rizvi.
The Senator congratulated Rizvi on his release from jail, presenting him with a bouquet. Earlier this month while talking to Geo News, Chaudhary had said, “I will present a bouquet to Saad Rizvi when he is released”.
Commenting on the meeting during his subsequent media talk, Chaudhary said that he paid Rizvi a goodwill visit and that it was important that the state engaged with leaders who are 'different from others'.
He said that he was satisfied with the agreement between the government and the TLP, the agreement that led to Rizvi’s release after seven months in prison.
He also told reporters that he was meeting Rizvi with the consent of Prime Minister Imran Khan. In response to a question by one reporter, he said that it was too early to say if the premier will meet Rizvi himself.
Saad Rizvi was released from prison on Thursday, following a covert deal between the government and the TLP. Rizvi was received by a huge crowd of delighted supporters upon his arrival at the Rehmatul Lil Alameen Mosque.
