Two young boys, Nadeem and Kashif, were kidnapped from Bezankhel road, Bannu, on November 12. The Bezankhel tribe has threatened to launch agitation as the authorities failed to recover the missing boys 10 days after their abduction. The tribe had been in talks with the local authorities for the safe recovery of Nadeem and Kasif.

However, on Friday, a week after the boys went missing, the tribe gave an ultimatum to launch a protest if the authorities failed to find those missing. The tribal elders gave the authorities till Nov 22 to find Nadeem and Kashif after which they said a demonstration may be launched.

The warning was issued during a meeting of the Quami Jirga in Bannu on Nov 19. Those present at the meeting included Halimzada Wazir, Malik Allah Khan, Malik Esar Ali Khan, and several other members of the tribe.

The tribesmen said that they would block the Bannu-Peshawar motorway, a move that may cause concern for traders and locals. The Jirga (meeting of the tribesmen) also commented on the overall security situation in the region, they said that the area was not safe and authorities had failed to protect the citizens.

The identity of the kidnappers and the reasons behind the abduction remain unknown.
