Since Hamas' surprise attack on Israel on October 7, Gaza has been at the receiving end of Israel's brutal violence which is resulting in a genocide.

Pakistani publishers have been extending support to Palestine in various forms. Musharraf Ali Farooqi, founder of Kitaab, issued a public statement rescinding EU Sponsorship of Pakistan Spelling Bee (https://pakistanspellingbee.com) for its support of Israel's dehumanization and genocide of innocent Palestinian children, women and men, and criminalising lawful dissent by European citizens in their own societies.

Taiba Abbas, founder of Ala Books, applauded international acts of solidarity taking to social media site X stating: "Literature is where we get to live in the entirety of our human freedom, and for that place to be colonized as well is beyond unacceptable."

Bilal Zahoor, founder Folio Books, also expressed disappointment at Judith Butler's piece in the London Review of Books saying, "everyone condemns Hamas but arguing that Hamas violence is not primarily a consequence of Israel’s genocidal policy is ahistorical."

Folio Books and Zuka Books also signed the open letter in support of Adania Shibli's Minor Detail and Palestinian Literary Voices.
