Having recently visited for the Moscow Fashion Week and the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, I fell in love with this historic yet ever-evolving metropolis. It was my third time in Moscow, but its charm and energy captivated me all over again.
Let me share how much I appreciated the city's thoughtful approach to pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. The administration’s emphasis on wide, well-maintained footpaths and their prompt clearing during snowfall made walking a breeze. A 45-minute drive often turned into a pleasant 15-minute walk, thanks to the convenience of walking routes.
What stood out most was the respect shown by drivers—car owners consistently stopped well ahead of intersections to allow pedestrians to cross safely. For longer journeys, the efficient underground Metro was always a reliable option. It was truly heartwarming to experience a city that prioritises pedestrians so seamlessly!
Exploring Moscow: Where the Past Meets the Future
Moscow is a fascinating blend of old-world charm and modern sophistication. Red Square, with the iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral standing proudly at its center, serves as a constant reminder of the city’s storied past. Walking through the square feels like stepping into a living museum. Nearby, the Kremlin’s grandeur dominates the skyline, encapsulating centuries of political and cultural history.
But Moscow is also a city that embraces the future. The towering skyscrapers of Moscow City, the financial district, are a testament to its modern aspirations. The city’s efficient metro system, with its ornately decorated stations, merges functionality with artistry, making public transport a cultural experience in itself.
The Four Seasons and The Metropol: Experiencing Moscow’s Finest
During my stay, I had the pleasure of experiencing two exceptional hotels—The Four Seasons and The Metropol. The Four Seasons exudes modern luxury, with its impeccable service and proximity to Moscow’s iconic landmarks.
But it was The Metropol that transported me to another era. Built in the late 19th century, this historic Art Nouveau hotel is an architectural masterpiece. Its grand chandeliers, intricate mosaics, and storied past make it more than just a place to stay—it’s a journey into Moscow’s rich history. From hosting dignitaries to being a silent witness to revolutions, The Metropol holds a legacy that few other hotels can match.
I must tell you it is an absolute treat to have breakfast under the decorated dome of the legendary Metropol Hall and accompanied by the harp and a fountain right in the middle.

Heritage at Its Finest: The Bolshoi Theatre
One of the most memorable parts of my trip was visiting the Bolshoi Theatre, a cultural symbol of Russia. This historic theatre has stood the test of time, even surviving wartime destruction when a bomb partially destroyed it. The dedication to preserving its heritage was evident during its renovation in the 20th century. Craftsmen used traditional techniques and collaborated with German companies to recreate its original flooring, ensuring the theatre retained its authentic charm.
Standing in the Bolshoi, I couldn’t help but admire how passionately Russians honor their past. It’s more than a theatre; it’s a symbol of resilience, artistry, and national pride.
Food, Glorious Food
Moscow’s culinary scene is a treat for the senses. What stood out to me was how halal food is widely available in many restaurants, catering to diverse tastes. From traditional Russian delicacies like borscht and pelmeni to perfectly spiced kebabs, the food was nothing short of spectacular.
Every meal was a celebration of flavors, and whether dining at a chic restaurant on the 84th floor of a highrise building or a cozy local eatery, the experience was unforgettable. Moscow truly knows how to indulge its visitors.
Moscow food deserves an article of its own, but here I want to assure you all that the city will not disappoint you.

A special commendation goes to Moscow’s Culture Department and the Fashion Fund for orchestrating such a spectacular showcase. Their efforts truly elevated the experience, making it a celebration of creativity and tradition in the heart of the city.
