Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed and his family turned into billionaires during the rule of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to anchorperson Mubasher Lucman.

The family of the ex-general, which did not have a financially sound background, made a fortune during the PTI chief’s term in power, Lucman claimed.

According to him, Faiz inflicted irreversible damage to Pakistan as he worked to serve his own interests.

"The family had a total of 120 acres in their possession which later grew to a staggering 2,200 acres."

The value of the house – which is nothing short of a fairytale palace – grew to over Rs2 billion, Lucman said and added that the farmhouse is spread over 500 acres.

"The property has state-of-the-art security," he said and added, "It did not stop there as the roads leading to the residence were built with his name plates on it, and people were barred from free movement in the area."

The journalist highlighted that Faiz' relatives gained wealth rapidly, and remained staunch supporters of the former premier and his party.

Lucman further said that Faiz made good friends with former Chief of the Army Staff Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa besides Imran, and also pointed at his “collusion with former First Lady Bushra Bibi.”

“Faiz wanted an extension for Bajwa so he could be senior-most among the officers at the time of the new COAS' appointment.

It was reported earlier that the scrutiny of officers appointed by former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence is being pursued.

According to media reports, Colonel (retd) Liaquat Ali Waseem and his family were at the Islamabad airport to fly to the UK. But when the family reached the departure lounge, they were barred from boarding the flight, though other family members were allowed to go.

Waseem was believed to be the special man of the former lieutenant general. He had absolute authority to settle matters. From Parliament to the Panama Papers investigation and other accountability cases against the PML-N leadership, the former colonel played a pivotal role.
