As a Chief organiser of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz gave her first interview to Saleem Safi where she talked about politics, economy, constitution and democracy of Pakistan. Given the political handling of the interview, it would not be wrong to say that Maryam Nawaz has the right political acumen to become the political heir of Nawaz Sharif as she is not only a courageous woman but also possesses the ability to show the mirror to the powers that be.

While talking about her political career and why she has joined politics, she said that she never thought of joining politics at any point in her life. However, when she saw that her father was being oppressed by the powers that be including Imran Khan, she became part of politics as she was assisting her father. She also mentions the fact that she is thankful to her opponents to have helped her discover her true self. In fact, she gives credit to her opponents for recognising her political acumen before her father and party.

Moreover, Maraym Nawaz remarked that she had paid the price of joining politics as she was thrown in a jail, Kot Lakhpat, where she had spent months in a death cell. Explaining her personal ordeal she commented that she wept two times in Jail. One, when Mian Nawaz Sharif brought her the news of the death of her mother and the other when she heard her father's health had deteriorated and shifted to hospital. Though she kept shouting the whole day to inquire about her father's health the next day, nobody responded to her pleas. It was this time she wept on Janamaz while praying for her father.

She had commented that though she had faced the cruellest of times, she had never lost her temper and grace. Even though there was not any Iron in her cell, she used to press her clothes with a Fry-pan on a heater so as to avoid giving any impression of breaking down to her opponents. She has cited the story of Fry-pan to counter the question of Saleem Safi when he asked about her lavish lifestyle. She mentioned that she too had suffered in life as life is not a bed of roses.

Moreover, while talking about her ordeal in the NAB custody, Maryam Nawaz said NAB was made to interrogate men as there was no room there made for women. But she spent time there among men who  broke into her cell and started making videos at midnight. Citing this event, she blamed General Faiz Hamid on whose order people broke into her cell to break her courage.

Furthermore, talking about the hybrid regime, Maryam Nawaz said that all those who had participated in this project are exposing themselves. She needs not to take any action against them; however, she wants anyone who has abused the constitution of Pakistan must be answerable.

On economy, she remarked that Imran Khan destroyed the economy of Pakistan with a poor deal from the IMF. Explaining more she says that not only he had done a disastrous deal with IMF but also broken all those promises he had made when his government was ousted. Another reason why our economy didn't perform well in the last four years is that Khan was engaged in politics of vindictiveness that brought Pakistan to the precipice. By this comment, she meant that without political stability economic stability is elusive.

When asked who would be the heir of Maryam Nawaz? She said that though people talked about his son even today, she wanted him to take care of family and business affairs for now. That said, she reiterated that people of Pakistan would decide her political heir just as she has been decided by the people of Pakistan and then by his opponents and the by her father and the party.

Lastly, it would not be wrong to say that though Maryam Nawaz was born with a silver spoon in her mouth but to prove her mettle she has suffered a lot. Given the travails of her little political career, it can be said that she has the leadership skills and potential to lead the country.
