Following the news, PML-Q workers reached the residence of Shujaat in Lahore and chanted slogans against him.
Talking to a senior journalist, Moonis said that Shujaat has refused to support the PTI’s candidate for the slot of Punjab chief minister. “I’ve lost and so has Imran Khan… Zardari has won,” a media outlet quoted Moonis as saying.
“No video statement has been recorded… I went to meet him [Chaudhry Shujaat] but he refused to record the video.”
Moreover, a media report claimed that Shujaat could issue a letter to Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari and direct his party lawmakers to vote for PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz for the Punjab CM's slot.
However, Pervez Elahi, in a tweet, said that in view of the Article 63 of the Constitution, there is no importance of Shujaat’s directions to the PML-Q lawmakers and only the parliamentary leader can issue directions to the party members.
Earlier, MPAs from the PTI and PML-N arrived at the Punjab Assembly to cast their votes during the election for the Punjab CM.
