That, as you would all know by now, hasn’t happened, owing to a plethora of contradicting reasons all of which hinge around Disney not giving Pakistan the rights for the film. Some suggest that negotiations are still ongoing, and that we might, after all, get to watch the film in Pakistani cinemas in the future.
Whether that happens or not, Marvel aficionados are sure to catch the Captain one way or the other. Here is what they can look forward do.
The latest offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes just roughly a month before the much awaited Avengers: Endgame. A prequel to Avengers, this film is based in the 1990s from a previously unseen Marvel Cinematic Universe era. It’s headlined by the fact that it is the first female-led superhero movie from the Marvel Universe and explains the creation of one of the strongest superheroes of all time.
Captain Marvel has come out at a very intriguing point in time – right before Endgame. The link between the two films was first established in the post credit scenes of Infinity War where Captain Marvel’s logo can be seen on the pager that Nick Fury uses to send out an intergalactic distress signal as Thanos’ Decimation begins. Despite the bleak end that Infinity War showed us, it did give some hope to its viewers in the form of Captain Marvel.
The film unravels the nature and origins of Carol Danvers’ powers through numerous questions about her past being answered step by step. It is unveiled that there are a number of characters from the Marvel Universe that still have so many mysteries surrounding them and have yet to be explored completely.
The story hinges around an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught between an intergalactic war on Earth. Of course, the aim of the film wasn’t just to show the superhero’s background, it plays a much more pivotal role in setting up Endgame.
Expectations preceding Captain Marvel’s release skyrocketed understandably. It is the first of over 20 Marvel Cinematic Universe films that had a female protagonist – Marvel’s rival DC found Wonder Woman to be a huge success. Brie Larson has done justice to her character which has resulted in the film being a soaring success.
The planning and production is evident. The 1990s nostalgia is well preserved throughout the film with the director revealing that one main focus was on the music to ensure that the film gave off a 1990s vibe – which it truly and absolutely does.
With the Bollywood ban in play, our multiplexes would vanish if Hollywood blockbusters aren’t screened in Pakistan
The film is a beautiful combination of action seamlessly blended with emotions. The greatest strength of the storyline is perhaps the central relationship between Carol and Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau. The bond of friendship the two share is the main emotional element.
For many, however, the action might not be as enthralling as they would have hoped for. On many instances it’s hard to tell if the moves are actually being performed by the actors themselves.
But there is a reason that the film is doing exceedingly well. It has definitely upped the ante in setting the stage for Avengers: Endgame.
Hence, Pakistan is truly missing out on Captain Marvel, and steps need to be taken for its release in the future and to ensure that this doesn’t happen in the future. With the Bollywood ban in play, our multiplexes would vanish if Hollywood blockbusters aren’t screened in Pakistan.
