The Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Farooq Hamid Naek, has strongly condemned the brutal attack and gunfire on passenger vans in Lower Kurram that occurred on Thursday. The attack has resulted in 42 casualties and more than 30 injuries, including men, women, and children. He expressed his grief and sorrow over this heinous incident, which led to the loss of innocent lives.

Naek voiced his deep concern over the rising number of attacks on innocent people, which has been increasing daily. He stated that this reflects the failure of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government and law enforcement agencies. He demanded that the Inspector General (I.G.) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Provincial Government take immediate action to arrest the perpetrators and ensure they receive exemplary punishment.

He also called on the Federal and Provincial Governments to provide security to every citizen and take urgent measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

An armed attack took place in the Mandori Charkhel area, a region known for sectarian tensions and land disputes. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mehsud reported that a convoy of around 200 vehicles, traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar, was attacked with heavy gunfire. He also mentioned that two separate convoys of Shia passengers were targeted in two different attacks. Efforts are underway to assist the injured, and the bodies of those who died have been transported to Parachinar.

The DC stated that efforts will be made to restore normal life as soon as possible, and a large community gathering (jirga) will be called. Schools and markets have been closed since the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
