A group of charged Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers on Thursday vandalised the Orange Line train station on Multan Road where they were holding a protest since Tuesday. The protestors also damaged the CCTV cameras and infrastructure near the sit-in location. A government educational institute's bus was snatched by the TLP workers who also beat up two policemen.

While cops were deployed near the protest on Multan Road, they shied away from stopping the protestors as IG police had ordered them to avoid confrontation, as per a police official who spoke to Dawn.

Further, TLP activists reportedly blocked roads in parts of Lahore on Thursday and had heated exchange of words with commuters who demanded they remove the hurdles.

Five cases were registered against TLP workers for damaging property.

Developing situation

Meanwhile, the TLP has begun its long march to Islamabad from Lahore. The capital city's authorities blocked roads ahead of the extremist group's arrival in the city. Metro bus service in Rawalpindi was suspended in light of the planned long march.

Unconfirmed reports suggest there have been clashes between police and the protesting workers of. the TLP as they march to Islamabad. The TLP had initially stated its chief Saad Rizvi's release as the main purpose of the march, but has now said that it is being held in honour of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
