Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former minister of Asad Umar has admitted that the the DG Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had told the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting in March that he had not found any evidence of a 'conspiracy' against the then-PTI government.

Asad Umar said this while speaking on a television show on Wednesday. He said while the ISI chief had denied seeing any conspiracy, he had also failed to submit any supporting evidence or documents in that regard.

Following the NSC meeting, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had issued a statement saying that a strong demarche had been sent to a country —later revealed to be the USA— over accounts of 'blatant interference', without making any mention of a 'conspiracy'.

PTI Chairperson and former prime minister Imran Khan has continuously claimed that a 'foreign conspiracy' machinated by the US was responsible for the vote of no confidence against him on April 11, which ultimately led to his ouster.

Responding to a question about the aforementioned statement, Asad Umar maintained that the ISPR spokesperson had only referred to the military personnel who had attended the NSC meeting, without disclosing their actual opinions.

He further said that while it was true that the DG ISI had said that he had not seen evidence of any conspiracy, the ISI chief had also not brought forth any detailed report or document to corroborate his findings.

Asad Umar said that apart from the cipher that PTI Chairperson Imran Khan referred to as evidence of a conspiracy, there were no other physical documents present at the meeting.

He also maintained that the DG ISI, nor the ISPR spokesperson had never said that the other army chiefs also did not see the conspiracy.
