PTI Workers Hurl Threats At Chief Election Commissioner Over Disqualification Verdict

The decision by the Election Commission to disqualify Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has not gone down well with the supporters of the party, who are now hurling life threats at the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and his family.

 

The former premier’s followers on social media have resorted to openly threatening the CEC and his family of dire consequences.



One of the videos involved a man hurling threats at the CEC from the sacred Masjid al-Haram. Moreover, prominent PTI leaders too have taken a threatening tone after the verdict against their party chairman.

The irresponsible statements by the party’s central leadership have given rise to intolerance in the society.



In view of the situation, the state of Pakistan is mulling upon bringing overseas Pakistanis hurling life threats back to Pakistan.

One could expect such an outcome of Imran Khan’s extremist upbringing of his supporters. One hopes that the superior courts will take notice of the development and provide due security to the ECP chief.



After much anticipation, on Friday, the top electoral authority of the country disqualified PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case under Article 63(1)(p) for making “false statements and incorrect declaration”.
