Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has revealed that he dissolved the provincial assemblies of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab on the suggestion of former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The former premier stated in an interview with a private news station on Sunday that General Bajwa advised dissolving governments if you wanted elections. The meeting was held in front of President Dr. Arif Alvi, he added.

He added that the former chief of army staff (COAS) had given him lies and that Gen. Bajwa had no ideology.

The ousted premier claimed that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief had informed him that Gen Bajwa wanted to install Shehbaz Sharif in government after he was ousted from office in April of last year following a resolution of no confidence.

He also disclosed that a Middle Eastern leader had informed him a year earlier that Bajwa was no longer with him.

"General Bajwa and the premier intelligence agency knew that the current rulers had stolen the money from the national exchequer and taken it abroad." Despite knowing this, General Bajwa was willing to give them "NRO" as he had planned an extension for himself, Imran Khan added.

The PTI chief said, "If you have an ideology, you can't convince yourself to give NRO to these people."

If the prime minister dissolves the assembly, elections might be conducted in July, according to the former premier.

Additionally, he emphasized that the caretaker governments in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the two provinces where they previously held power before he chose to dissolve their two assemblies on January 14 and 18, were unlawful following the expiration of their predetermined terms.

The ousted premier said, "The caretaker government's tenure is over already; it is now illegal." He insisted that a new, "neutral" interim administration be established and that the caretaker government is removed.

He continued by saying that the Punjab elections will be held on May 14, as set by the Supreme Court, and that his party will not permit the government to move the date forward.

"We won't allow it to happen if they believe they [the incumbent government] will put pressure on the Supreme Court. To avoid elections, they'll scandalize the Supreme Court, he said.

The government has repeatedly pushed for holding the national and provincial assembly elections in October in response to the PTI's demand for elections in the two provinces.
