Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's lead lawyer, Khawaja Haris, has opted to leave his legal team, Geo News reported on Thursday.

According to sources, the senior lawyer chose to part ways because of concerns over "discipline" among the legal team representing the PTI chief.

Latif Khosa, a seasoned lawyer, will now represent the former prime minister in various cases before the Supreme Court and the High Court, ranging from terrorism to corruption.

According to sources, lawyer Haris instructed the PTI's legal team not to complain regarding Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, who is hearing the Toshakhana case.

However, other members had called for raising objections on the bench hearing Imran’s petition challenging the trial court verdict.

Sources said Haris was apparently not happy over the interference of other legal team members in the decisions taken by the former as the lead counsel of the PTI chief.

According to sources, lawyer Haris has given the PTI leader's legal team all the case papers back and won't be present for the Toshakhana case hearing before the IHC.

The PTI chief would be represented by lawyer Khosa and other legal team members in Toshkahana and other cases being heard by various courts.

The PTI chief had hired Khawaja Haris to represent him at the Supreme Court, IHC, and other courts in the Toshakhana, NAB amendments, and other cases.

The development comes two days after PTI announced that it would file a reference against IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) after a bench headed by the judge refused to suspend former prime minister Imran Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana case.
