Following the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s defeat in the first phase of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local government polls, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to dissolve all organisations of the party across Pakistan.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed the PM's decision on Friday while addressing a press conference in Islamabad. The announcement was made by the minister after a meeting of the party's senior leadership presided over by the prime minister.

PM Khan was reportedly disappointed over the party's performance in KP local government elections. But Fawad Chaudhry during the press conference insisted that the results of the polls in the village councils indicated that the PTI was still the 'biggest party in the province'.

He however added that the party did not believe in dynastic politics, and the PM has never let his mission be undermined by his personal relations. The minister said that the PML-N and PPP awarded ticket based on personal relations and if the same happened in the PTI, there won't be any difference between us and them. Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed his anger over the flawed distribution of tickets for the polls.

Further, Fawad Chaudhry said that complaints were being received by the party that family members were awarded tickets in many instances.

The meeting also discussed the party's organisational structure, and the minister told media that the party's mobilisation for the KP local government polls was not evident on the ground. The minister said that the flawed distribution of tickets led to the prime minister's decision dissolving all organisations from the centre to the tehsils.

He added that chief organisers and all office bearers of the party have been removed from their positions. Moreover, a special committee would be formed to look into the process of awarding the ticket.
