Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has issued a rejoinder to Prime Minister Imran Khan's statements against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, in which the PM called Sharif 'the nation's criminal.'

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, Aurangzeb countered that the prime minister has ruined the country's economy, exasperated poverty and inflation, and was recycling government projects which Shehbaz had established as the Punjab chief minister.

"How dare you call Shehbaz Sharif a criminal,:" she asked, accessing the prime minister of money laundering through undeclared bank accounts and improperly receiving foreign funding for his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The prime minister's speech, according to Aurangzeb, showed he was 'full of fear and hopelessness' and that his time in office was drawing near.

"We will not just dislodge you from power, but we will pull you from the ear for what you have to the masses," she rallied.

She asked, “Who are you threatening, Imran Khan? State? Judiciary? Parliament?”

During his television appearance on Sunday, the prime minister had warned, “If I exit the government, I will pose a greater threat to you. Right now, I am sitting quietly in my office and watching the drama unfold. But if I take to the streets, you will have nowhere to hide.”

Reacting to the PM’s statements, political analysts have wondered if the comments were directed at the establishment. The prime minister was apparently referring to the opposition, but his sudden outburst led many to question if he was indirectly mentioning the establishment’s role in his administration.
