After losing contact with PTI chief Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja hopes to develop a relationship with incumbent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Raja has revealed in a press briefing that Imran Khan lost contact with him immediately after he was ousted as prime minister.

When asked about his relationship with his former captain, Ramiz Raja said, "Imran Bhai lost contact with me. I have not spoken to him for a long time."

Raja has emphasised the need to build up relations with the new prime minister despite speculation suggesting that his removal from the PCB office might be on the cards.

"We can't live on speculation," he said. “I believe that beyond political differences, there is a need for continuity.” The former Test cricketer added, "Look, our prime minister is our patron-in-chief. We have asked him to set a time to meet us, and if he does, we will tell him about our work. I don't think there is any need for ego here, after all, we all want the development of cricket.”

Raja said that if there is anything in the PCB constitution about removing the chairman every time in case of a change in government, then it should be proceeded with, otherwise the “fulfillment of individual aspirations will not work in favour of the game itself.”

The PCB chairman added that the ball was in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's court. It may be recalled that Sharif had met former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood a few days ago. According to reports, the chairmanship of the PCB was at the top of their agenda.
