Maryam asked the former chief judge to reveal who had asked him to keep her and Nawaz Sharif in jail and who wanted to ‘bring Imran Khan into power'. She added that if not now, Saqib Nisar will one day have to answer for all these allegations. She questioned who was powerful enough to compel the then chief justice of Pakistan to take decisions which the latter considered to be against the law and the constitution.
Maryam was holding the press conference in the wake of recently revealed audio recording where Saqib Nisar could be purportedly heard talking to an unknown person about the case of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz as well as the affidavit of Rana Shamim, the retired chief justice of Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
She added that Nisar had termed the audio leak 'fake' and said that he would not go to court, "Nawaz Sharif, an elected prime minister, appeared before a Joint Investigation Team with his entire family?"
She also demanded that parties involved in the Justice Shaukat Siddique saga be summoned in court to provide answers. Justice Siddique had alleged that he was asked not to grant bail to Maryam and Nawaz Sharif.
