A 20-year-old Christian youth named Farhan Ul Qamar was gunned down inside his residence located in Pasrur, Sialkot.
On November 9, Muhammad Zubair and his brother Shahan Ul Qamar barged into the under-construction house of a Christian youth named Farhan Ul Qamar at around 3 a.m. and shot him dead.
“Farhan was sleeping in their parent’s room when the attackers trespassed his home and opened fire at him, hitting him thrice in the right ear, neck, and collarbone,” the deceased’s brother Shahan Ul Qamar said.
The attackers managed to flee from the scene while shooting in the air, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that there were rumors circulating on social media that Farhan was assassinated for writing a pro-Israel post on social media, but his brother has refuted the reports while terming them baseless.
In a separate incident, a few days ago, two Christian brothers named Aqib Javed and Asher Javed were manhandled, and their father, Javed Masih, was illegally detained by the police for about a week after they allegedly supported Israel on social media in the wake of the war in Gaza.
The incident spread fear among Christian families residing in the village, but a Muslim cleric and other respectable members of the locality played a role in curbing the harassment.
Minority rights activist Joseph Jansen expressed concern and grief over the murder of an innocent youth, adding that it is a sheer injustice that a poor youth was killed inside his home. He stated that the culprits should be brought to justice for this heinous act.
