Harris Jalil Mir, General Manager of Islamabad United, joins Nauraiz Rana in reflecting on Pakistan's performance in the recently concluded cricket World Cup 2023.
From a fan's perspective, it's undeniably disappointing for the entire nation, as cricket serves as a unifying force in Pakistan, with everyone eagerly anticipating this major event. However, from a sports marketing and managerial standpoint, the outcome was somewhat inevitable given the numerous radical changes within our cricket board, including three different chairmen in barely a year.
Apart from the Pakistani team that traveled to India, there was a notable absence of representation, including journalists, management, spectators, and commentators. This lack of support raises questions about the players' psychological state and potential demotivation.
The essence of such events is to promote inclusion, and the restrictions on travel between countries deprived many of the opportunity to participate, rendering the event somewhat senseless.
