Javeria Siddique, the spouse of slain Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, on Monday urged micro-blogging site Twitter to remove his "last photos".

She also cautioned the media and politicians against visiting their home with cameras, saying they were not welcome. "Pls @Twitter remove last picture's of my late husband @arsched from ur social media site. Politicians and media are not welcomed with cameras inside our house," she said in a tweet.

Javeria had earlier confirmed Sharif's death on Monday in a separate tweet. She had emphasised how the family's privacy must be protected in the the earlier tweet too. "I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist @arsched today, as per police he was shot in Kenya. Respect our privacy and in the name of breaking pls don't share our family pics, personal details and his last pictures from hospital. Remember us in ur prayers," she had said.

Kenya police, separately, blamed Sharif's Sunday killing on a case of "mistaken identity", according to national media. "“We had an incident of shooting which turned out to be a case of mistaken identity involving a journalist. We will release more information later,” a police official told Kenyan newspaper The Star.
