Indian media has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a reincarnation of the revered Muslim modernist Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.

In a report aired by a local television channel in India, the anchor talks about the secret behind Modi’s successes as a leader of the country. “This is the story of the previous life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” she said. “Modi is a great statesman and leader. He has shared his inspiration with the public many time, but he may not know that the root of it all may be his previous life.”

The report then went on to claim that Narendra Modi was a staunch Muslim and a practitioner of Islam in his past life. But not just any Muslim; the report claims that Modi was Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of Aligarh Muslim University, in his previous life.

Born in a Gujarati family, Modi helped his father sell tea as a child. He claims later he ran his own tea stall. Modi was introduced to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a right-wing organization, at the age of eight.

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was a reformer and philosopher of the nineteenth century British India, who is most famously credited with the Two Nation Theory, the main philosophical basis for the creation of Pakistan.

According to the theory, Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations in every definition; therefore, Muslims should be able to have their own separate homeland in the Muslim majority areas of India.
