Authorities from the Punjab Health Department have suspended two officials after fake entries were made purporting to show former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as having been inoculated in Lahore. Dr. Ahmed Nadeem and Dr. Munir Ahmad of Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital in Lahore were held to be responsible for this incident, and the authorities have asked them to submit a report as to the circumstances in which it took place.

The relevant order by the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department, dated the 23rd of September, does not specifically mention the incident of fake entry of Nawaz Sharif's “vaccination” based on his computerised national ID card (CNIC). Instead, the order says that the two doctors were suspended “on account of inefficiency and misconduct” and calls upon them to report to the relevant authorities immediately.

A fake entry was added to the National Immunisation Management System, and purports to show that Sharif received his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine on Wednesday, the 22nd of September. Former PM Nawaz Sharif left the country in November 2019 and has not been back since.
