Imran Khan’s appetite
According to Dunya (November 16, 2015), Imran Khan displayed his big appetite (khush-khoraki) at a party’s worker’s house. He ate (urraeen) mutton chomps and boiled eggs, but when roasted chicken and naans arrived, he could not stop himself (hath na rok paye). He had a handkerchief in one hand and ate from the other. When there was a round of halwa at the end, he said yes (labbaik) to the offer.
10 girls have proposed to Imran Khan so far
Nawa-e-Waqt says (November 16, 2015) the number of women who have offered to marry Imran Khan after his divorce (biwi ki nashist khali honay par) has reached 10. Three of them have contacted his sisters. Imran Khan is not mentally prepared for another marriage, but his sisters want to marry him (sehra sajaya jaye) by early 2016.
Bilawal bans English in party meetings
Express reports (November 17, 2015) People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has banned party leaders from speaking English during meetings. He has told them to speak with him only in Urdu. The purpose of the decision is to for him to get fluent in Urdu.
Drunk Indian driver collides with Wagah border gate
Reported in Jang (November 17, 2105) an Indian citizen’s jeep got out of control and hit the Wagah border gate on the Pakistani side. When the drunk driver had the accident, at 3:17am, two of his wheels crossed the border into the Pakistani side. The Indian border security forces pulled the vehicle back. Pakistani Rangers have protested the damage to the Pakistani gate.
Famous singer tries to run over policemen
Reported in Express (November 18, 2015) singer Bilal Saeed was arrested for running his land cruiser over policemen. He was speeding and declined to stop when the police signaled him to. He sped away until he was stopped at a police picket. The artist and his friends yelled at the policemen (badtameezi, gali galoch) and tried to run them over.
The problem with unregistered marriages
According to Jang (November 18, 2015) Reham Khan’s new revelation that her marriage with Imran Khan was not registered may render him disqualified from participating in elections. It is a legal offense, and the groom and the cleric can go to jail for up to three months and fined up to Rs 1,000.
Wife wants divorce because man steals shoes from mosque
Nawa-e-Waqt reports (November 19, 2015) a court in Lahore allowed a woman to divorce her husband because she said he is a habitual thief who steals shoes from mosques. He had also trained their children to steal shoes from mosques.
Voter gives birth to ‘Zulfiqar Mirza’ in polling station
A woman voter in Badin gave birth to a baby boy in a polling station during the local council elections in Sindh, Nawa-e-Waqt reports (November 20, 2015). She named the boy Zulfiqar Mirza after the famous politician.
‘Sheikh Rasheed is Meera of politics’
Quoted in Dunya (November 21, 2015) federal minister Muhammad Zubair says Sheikh Rasheed is the Meera of politics. She does not get any roles, and he does not get any votes.
Parliamentarian’s son goes berserk
Reported in Nai Baat (November 21, 2015) the drunken son of a parliamentarian in Sialkot fired gunshots in the air outside the office of the district police officer, and abused (gali galoch) police officers. He was arrested by cops from the Elite Force.
