Pakistani Runners Among Few To Complete 42km Berlin Marathon

Pakistani runners made waves at the Berlin Marathon, which was held on Sunday, with several finishing the brutal 42-kilometre stretch while at least five completed it within three hours.

As many as 22 Pakistanis participated in the marathon, including Dr Rabia Naeem, Shoaib Nizami, Muhammad Junaid, Muhammad Sajjad, Amin Mukatay, Abdul Rehman, Sadiq Shah, Faisal Shafi, Ayaz, Kaukab, Shah Faisal, Shumaila, Miqdad, Yasir, Hina, Anam, Adnan Gandhi, among others.

Of these, at least Nizami, Dr Naeem, Junaid, Sajjad, Mukatay, Rehman, Shah, Shafi, and Gandhi completed the race.

Dr Naeem was among the first Pakistani women to complete the race.

Muhammad Sajjad, Amin Mukatay, Abdul Rehman, Sadiq Shah, and Faisal Shafi completed the marathon in a blinding three hours. 

By comparison, the marathon winner Eliud Kipchoge took 2:02:42 to complete the 42.195 kilometres-long track.

Sadiq Shah was the fastest Pakistani in Berlin, completing with a time of 2:52:16.
