Army Chief , Chinese Commander Reemphasize Need For Sustaining Peace In Region

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and the commander of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) have reemphasized the need to sustain peace and stability in the region, according to a statement from Pakistan's military media arm.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Asim Munir visited the PLA Army Headquarters on the first day of his tour to China. The army chief is in China on a four-day visit.

The COAS was given a guard of honor upon his arrival, and he later reviewed the impeccably attired contingent.

In his thorough discussion with the PLA commander, General Asim Munir brought up the "regional security situation". According to the ISPR, both officials reaffirmed the need to foster military-to-military cooperation.

Later, the army chief also saw a display of the PLA soldiers' operational capabilities.

General Asim Munir lauded the soldiers' professionalism and their excellent level of training.

According to the ISPR, the army chief will continue to meet with Chinese military officials in order to further the already strong ties between the two armed forces.

On February 12, 2023, United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a meeting with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir at the Qasr Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi.

According to an official statement issued by the UAE Embassy in Pakistan, matters related to bilateral cooperation and joint work between the two countries came under discussion during the meeting.

"H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, receives at Qasr Al Shati Palace Abu Dhabi General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and discusses ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and joint work between the two countries," the embassy said in the statement.

The UAE Embassy in Pakistan also released a picture of the meeting between both leaders, in which they can be seen talking to each other.
