Thousands of Baloch gathered in Dalbandin on Saturday to observe Baloch Genocide Day, a solemn occasion marking the discovery of a mass grave of missing persons in 2014 in the Thotak area of Khuzdar.
The event, organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, is the second national Baloch gathering in the region, following a deadly confrontation in Gwadar in July 2024, where clashes between protesters and security forces led to the deaths of at least five individuals.
The gathering in Dalbandin featured speeches from prominent Baloch leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Deen, Sibghath Ullah Shah Ji, and Dr. Sabia Baloch. They condemned the extrajudicial killings of missing persons and the exploitation of Balochistan's natural resources, while demanding the implementation of the rule of law in the region.
However, the event was not without incident. Internet and mobile services were completely shut down in Chagi, Noshki, Kharan, and other cities in the Rakhshan division of Balochistan.
Baloch leadership has been vocal about the ongoing human rights abuses in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the exploitation of natural resources. The gathering in Dalbandin stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Baloch people in their struggle for justice and self-determination.
As the situation in Balochistan continues to unfold, international attention is increasingly drawn to the plight of the Baloch people and their struggle for human rights and dignity.
