Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has denied Prime Minister Imran Khan's claim that the two met earlier this week, stating that he hasn't seen the premier in over a year.

In an interview with BBC Urdu, Nisar said that he has been spending the past few days in his village at Charkri, adding that he has neither met with the prime minister nor received any invitation to meet with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

There was no secret meeting, Nisar claimed, although he noted his friendship with Imran Khan dated back to their school days at Atchison College.  He maintained, however, that their politics differed.

Nisar again doubled down that he had no intention of joining the PTI, or any other party, but instead would vote as the citizens of his constituency directed. "My voters have made me a sailor of their boat," he said.

On March 23rd, the prime minister had claimed to have met Chaudry Nisar, although he stopped short of sharing details of the meeting. “Chaudhry Nisar will take all his decisions himself,” he had said, suggesting that the estranged Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader would come to Khan’s rescue.

The PTI has attempted to mend fences with various disgruntled lawmakers from within their own party and the opposition as they face the no-confidence vote against the prime minister.
