Security forces have repulsed an attack on a Naval base in the southwestern district of Turbat. In a separate incident, intelligence-based operations were conducted against suspected terrorist hideouts in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the military's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists attempted to attack the navy base PNS Siddique in Turbat, Balochistan, on the night between March 25 and March 26.
The military said that the attack, mounted by at least four attackers, was thwarted due to the swift and effective response of the troops.
The statement added that the military response ensured the "safety and security of personnel and assets".
The military said that security forces in the vicinity were immediately mobilised to support the naval troops fighting the terrorists.
"Synergetic and effective response by the armed forces enabled killing of all four terrorists in ensuing joint clearance operation," the statement read.
It added that during an intense exchange of fire, an official was martyred. The fallen soldier was identified as 24-year-old Sepoy Noman Fareed. Originally hailing from Muzaffargarh, Sepoy Fareed was part of the Frontier Corps deputed in Balochistan. The military said he fought gallantly before embracing Shahadat.
After the attack, a 'sanitisation operation' (search and destroy) was being conducted in the area to eliminate any other terrorists.
Four terrorists killed in DI Khan
Separately, ISPR said that on Monday, March 25, security forces launched an intelligence-based operation against suspected terrorist hideouts in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan).
During the operation, the military said troops exchanged intense fire with the suspected terrorists. In the ensuing gun battle, at least four terrorists were killed.
They were identified as Mustafa, Qismat Ullah and Islam Ud Din, while the identity of the last terrorist is yet to be determined.
The military claimed that these individuals were actively involved in carrying out terror activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the terrorists.
Following the firefight, officials launched a 'sanitisation operation' in the area to eliminate any other terrorists who may be hiding in the area.
The military reiterated its resolve to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country at all costs.
