Reacting to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan's decision to depart to Bani Gala after calling off the much-hyped long march, government representatives have said that he 'ran away after spreading chaos'.

Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Raffique said in a tweet on Thursday, "Imran Khan ran away after spreading chaos in the country," adding that the government had fulfilled his role in preventing unrest.

He further said that all eyes were on the judiciary now, to see if it fulfills its 'responsibility', referring to the Supreme Court petition filed by the government seeking contempt proceedings against the PTI's alleged violations of the Constitution.

"The nation is watching how saboteurs and their masterminds who take undue advantage of court orders will be treated. I have heard that justice is blind," he said.

According to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Attaullah Tarar, 'defeated Imran Khan's frustrated face and quivering voice have revealed everything', claiming that Imran Khan should leave politics after the 'failed' march.

He said that when and how elections took place was up to the federal government and its allies, adding that they would be registering cases against those who attacked police officials in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Following this, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stepped out to meet with and thank the police personnel stationed at D-Chowk, which is where the 'Azaadi' sit-in was supposed to take place.

The PM's focal person on digital media, Abubaker Umer, tweeted photographs of the premier thanking security officials for shedding their "blood and sweat for this country"

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in a series of tweets alleged that Imran Khan 'misled' the Supreme Court by showing up to D-Chowk after agreeing to restrict itself to H-9.

He said that the court must take decisive actions against the 'Fitna Gang' for their subversions of the constitution and apparent contempt of court.
