Veteran actor Talat Hussain passed away in Karachi after a protracted illness, announced Karachi Arts Council President Ahmed Shah on Sunday.
Shah said Hussain’s daughter, Tazeen Hussain, informed him about the demise of her father.
Hussain, who is well-known for his extensive career in radio, television, and film, was suffering a long-term illness and receiving treatment at a private hospital.
The renowned actor was born in September 1940 in Delhi, India. He was married to Professor Rakhshanda Hussain and has three children: two girls and one boy.
Hussain studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and was honored with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1982 by the Pakistani government.
He also received the Amanda Award in 2006 for best supporting actor in the Norwegian film "Import Eksport" and the Nigar Award in 1986 for best supporting actor in the film "Miss Bangkok."
Hussain left an unforgettable influence on the Pakistani entertainment industry with engaging plays and intelligent writing.
He had a decades-long career in acting, music, and the arts. He also spent some time working for the BBC in London.
He appeared in several dramas, including "Arjumand" on PTV in 1970, "Ansoo," "Des Pardes," "Eid ka Jora," "Fanooni Latifey," and "Hawain."
Following Talat Hussain's death, fans, politicians, and fellow performers expressed their condolences on social media.
