Russia stated on Sunday that it had foiled a massive Ukrainian drone strike by shooting down at least 20 drones over Russian territory, including Moscow.

According to Russia's defense ministry, Ukrainian drones were shot down above Moscow, Tula, Kaluga, and Bryansk. An intercepted drone struck an apartment block in Tula, injuring one person, according to the region's governor, Alexei Dyumin.

"A massive drone attack was attempted overnight," stated Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. According to Russian officials, Ukrainian drones were shot down in many parts of the Moscow region.

According to the Kommersant Daily, flights at Moscow's principal airports were delayed or canceled as a result of the drone strike.

On the other side, the Air Force stated that the Ukrainian military destroyed eight of nine Russian assault drones fired overnight.

There were no immediate indications of damage or information on where the remaining drone had collided.

The air force said the strike was launched from the southeast, and it occurred a day after what Ukrainian officials said was Russia's heaviest drone attack of the war.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has warned that Russia may attack crucial infrastructure in a winter aerial assault, as it did last year.
