Earlier on Monday, former Gilgit-Baltistan governor Qamar Zaman Kaira had revealed that the PPP chairperson would soon become the foreign minister, and told journalists in London that after two meetings with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal had left for Pakistan.
Bilawal explained his decision to join PM Shehbaz's cabinet by saying that it was now time for all political parties to put on a united front, as "one-sided decision making" was no longer possible. He also congratulated the country on a "peaceful and democratic struggle against a selected regime" and the first ever successful vote of no confidence.
