According to the management, the cinema will reopen after February 2, and moviegoers had been informed through official social media accounts.
Karachi's Capri Cinema General Manager Aziz Khattak said that the cinema had been shut as a very small number of people were turning up to watch the movies.
He said that the cinemas of the country would suffer badly if more movies like “The Legend of Maula Jatt” were not created.
He claimed that the superhit film singlehandedly sustained the industry for two and a half months. After that, the Hollywood movies “Avatar” and “The Way of Water” brought movie lovers to the cinemas.
"But now there is no movie to be shown to cinema lovers. There are 25 to 30 movies ready to be released, but I don’t know why producers are waiting for Eid,” he wondered.
He said the cinema industry could not function if movies were only screened on Eid.
