The Sindh Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh in a property transfer case.

According to a news outlet, Haleem, who is also the opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly, went to the ACE’s office in Jamshoro to record his statement in a case pertaining to allegedly raising a loan from a bank on the basis of fake property documents.

The ACE arrested the PTI leader after recording his statement in the office of Deputy Director Zeeshan Memon.

An associate of the PTI leader accompanying him at the time of the arrest said that they went to the office to file their replies in the case.

“We went to join the probe but they arrested him [Haleem] in another case registered against him,” he said, adding that Haleem is currently being kept at a police station.

Meanwhile, PTI lawmakers in the provincial assembly protested against Haleem’s arrest and called it a case of political victimisation.

This was the second time this month that the PTI leader was arrested. Earlier on July 6, Haleem was arrested from Lahore. Subsequently, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ruled that the detention of the PTI leader is "unlawful" and granted him protective bail.
