The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted rainfall in Karachi starting today, which is good news for locals who have been suffering as an outcome of extreme temperatures.

Karachiites have been suffering from excessive heat over the last few days, with temperatures reaching 42°C and "feeling like" 50°C earlier this week.

The catastrophic weather conditions have resulted in an upsurge in the number of heatstroke sufferers, many of whom have been taken to various hospitals around the city in recent days.

The current weather in Karachi is influenced by a variety of causes, including increased urbanization and a lack of green cover, all of which have had a negative impact on the climate.

However, the Met Office has stated that rain may fall in Karachi's suburbs and other places this afternoon or evening.

It predicted hot and humid weather in the metropolis over the next 24 hours, with temperatures ranging from 36°C to 38°C.

Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded was 31 °C, with 73% humidity.

A private meteorological station has also given a forecast for light to moderate rain in various regions of Karachi, as well as other cities in Sindh, including Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Naushero Feroz, and Dadu.

It further stated that there is a strong likelihood of rain in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, and other places today until Friday.
