The policy organisation also noted that the 41st session of the NA comprised of a total of 12 sittings, beginning on March 25th and ending on April 21st, and the average delay in starting each session was around 38 minutes.
The 41st session of the NA involved the vote of no-confidence against former prime minister Imran Khan, where he lost power by 174 votes, making it the only successful execution of such a motion in Pakistan's history. The no-confidence motion has been exercised only twice before, once for Benazir Bhutto in 1989 and once for Shaukat Aziz in 2006, both times unsuccessfully.
PILDAT observed that the session on March 31st was the shortest session of the NA to date - a mere 10 minutes long - and only one item on the agenda was discussed.
The think tank also said that on average, 60.80% of items on the agenda were left over in the 12 sittings of the 41st session.
In the final sitting of the 41st session, the entire agenda was completed, including the election and oath taking of the new deputy speaker. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a total of eight sittings on the 41st session (six as opposition leader and two as prime minister), whereas former prime minister Imran Khan did not attend any of the 12 sittings of the 41st session.
The PILDAT report also showed that 232 MNAs (65.08%) had marked their absence during the session. It recorded the talking times of the MNAs present, with former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi taking the lead at one hour and 32 minutes, followed by PM Shehbaz Sharif at one hour and 19 minutes.
