Four people died in a bomb blast outside KU on Tuesday, three of whom were Chinese nationals, and one was Pakistani. The banned outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) took responsibility for the attack, claiming that their first female suicide bomber, Shari Baloch had carried out the attack.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta today, Rind confirmed that KU bomber Shari Baloch's husband was under police custody. She said that during the course of interrogation he had revealed that his wife was 'mentally ill'.
Dr. Haibatan Baloch, a dentist by profession, said that his wife had been undergoing medication for her mental illness.
Rind stated that 'external forces' were trying to incriminate Baloch nations in anti-state activities in order to discredit them and destabilize the country, adding, "The Baloch nation won't be affected by such hostile conspiracies."
"This incident is also an attempt to keep Baloch women away from education. I am here today to bring an end to the negative impression which is being projected against Baloch women," Rind said. She also said that the blast was a tragic incident, and strongly condemned the attack.
One day prior, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo issued a video statement expressing sorrow over the incident, saying that targeting Chinese educators was "highly reprehensible" and against Baloch tradition. He said this was the first time he had ever witnessed such an event.
