Republican Party’s candidate Aizaz Gill, 31, a Pakistani-American consultant has won the Pennsylvania Primary Election for House District 172 - defeating Patrick Gushue with a significant margin.

After bagging 65.6% percent vote, Gill is far ahead of opponent Gushue who received 34.4% of the total votes. Gill, a Catholic by faith, had moved to Northeast Philadelphia as a nine-year-old from Sialkot with his parents.

Most recently, Gill had run the reelection campaign of Council member Brian O’Neill for City Council helping develop the strategy and infrastructure that led to the incumbent’s landslide victory this past November.

A graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Gill also worked for the City Commissioner Al Schmidt (now Pennsylvania’s Secretary of the Commonwealth) as a Community Outreach Coordinator. Gill was the first multilingual American of Pakistani descent hired for the Philadelphia City Commissioners.

In November, Gill will contest for the Pennsylvania state house seat in District 172 against Democrat Sean Dougherty on November 5th. With a razor thin margin in the PA House - PA 172 could determine which Party holds the PA house.
