5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted the northwestern parts of the country early on Monday morning.

Tremors were felt in Peshawar and numerous other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand, Chitral, Swat, and Dir.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Islamabad, the magnitude of the tremors recorded on the Richter scale was 5.2.

According to the seismic monitoring center, its depth was reported at 184 kilometers, and the epicenter was the Hindukush region in Afghanistan.

However, according to the US Geological Survey, which monitors earthquakes worldwide, the magnitude of the quake was recorded at 4.8, and its epicenter was 47 kilometers east of Farkhar district in Afghanistan.

The USGS reported that the depth of the tremors was 187.3km.

No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
