Ranbir Kapoor's popular Christmas video did not go over well with a Mumbai resident, who filed a complaint against him and his family members on Wednesday at a city police station. According to a copy of the complaint, Ranbir and his family have been accused of "deliberately invoking Hindu Gods and Goddesses by sprinkling intoxicating liquor on the cake and offering it to fire while celebrating any other religious festival with the intention of insulting the Sanatan Dharma there."
After the complainant requested that the actor be prosecuted under sections 295(A), 298, 500, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, no First Information Report (FIR) was filed in the case.
Sanjay Tiwari, via his attorneys Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, filed the complaint at Ghatkopar police station, claiming that in the video, the actor is seen pouring liquor on a cake and setting it on fire while screaming "Jai Mata Di." In Hinduism, the fire deity is called before calling other deities; however, Ranbir and his family members allegedly consumed intoxicants while celebrating another religion's festival and screamed "Jai Mata Di," according to the complaint. It was claimed that this offended the complainant's religious feelings.
Every year, the Kapoor family gathers for the traditional Christmas meal, but this year was extra special because Ranbir and Alia Bhatt presented their daughter Raha Kapoor to the world on the occasion. They came to Sashi Kapoor's house for lunch and then brought Raha Kapoor to welcome the paparazzi. That day, the first photographs of the one-year-old inundated the internet.
Karisma Kapoor and her children Samaira and Kiaan, her parents Babita and Randhir Kapoor, Sashi Kapoor's son Kunal Kapoor, and Ranbir's aunt Reema Jain's family also attended the Christmas meal. Both Armaan and Aadar Jain were joined by their partners. Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda were also present.
