National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf has been reported as having said that the territory of Afghanistan continues to be used against Pakistan by terrorist networks. While briefing the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Yusuf reportedly noted that the Pakistani government is “not completely optimistic” about the role of the new Taliban regime in Afghanistan on this issue.

Yusuf offered the lawmakers a briefing on the recently adopted National Security Policy (NSP). He told the committee that the government saw the ceasefire with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as having been violated unilaterally by that banned organisation. "Those who declare war on the country will be dealt with an iron fist.”

Later, commenting on daily Dawn’s reporting of his statements before the NA committee, the NSA said that his views had been mischaracterised and quoted incorrectly.
