The Rawalpindi court has rejected the plea seeking a stay order against the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) expected operation to vacate Lal Haveli of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed.
As per details, the conflict between Sheikh Rasheed and ETPB over the ownership of Lal Haveli has become intense.
The court, in a written verdict, stated that law related to public interest does not allow the court to interfere in the actions initiated by federal or provincial institutions.
Sheikh Rasheed, in a plea, stated that a case regarding Lal Haveli and adjacent land is being heard at the civil court. Therefore, initiating action and vacating the residence is illegal.
The plea stated that the appeal regarding Lal Haveli is also being heard by the ETPB administrator. It further stated that ETPB is likely to undertake an operation on January 30 to vacate Lal Haveli.
National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has accepted the resignations of another 35 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNAs, just days after accepting the resignations of nearly three dozen of the party’s lawmakers.
After stalling the process for eight months, the NA speaker had, on Tuesday, accepted the resignations of 34 more PTI MNAs, and of Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid, as Khan hinted he could “test” prime minister Shehbaz Sharif through a confidence vote.
The PTI had resigned en masse from the lower house of parliament following the ouster of PTI chief Imran Khan in April last year. NA speaker Ashraf accepted only 11 of the resignations, stating that the remaining lawmakers would be summoned individually for verification.
The total number of PTI MNAs whose resignations have been accepted stands at 81 so far.
