"Imran Niazi's baseless & dangerous allegations against former President Asif Ali Zardari are not only irresponsible but also conform to a pattern of conspiracy theories meant to spread venom against his political opponents," the premier said on his Twitter handle.
"Such nonsensical rhetoric is an attempt to remain politically relevant. The whole nation knows how he has used politics of hatred to divide the society for the sake of power," he added.
Earlier today, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto took the PTI chief to task for the said allegations, saying they "increase threats to my father, my family and my part."
He added that the, "Accusation that my family has any association to a terrorist organisation or that we would employ them to cause him harm not only defies logic but exposes us all to an increased threat."
On Friday, Imran Khan accused PPP co-chair Asif Ali Zardari and ‘powerful agencies’ of the country of being behind a plot to kill him.
“Asif Ali Zardari is behind a Plan ‘C’ to kill me and he has given money to a terrorist organisation for the purpose,” Imran had said while addressing his supporters.
“The facilitators in this are the people belonging to powerful agencies [of the country]”. According to the former premier, “It is a decision that has been made from three sides.”
“I have written out their names so that people may know. They want to get me out of the way using any means that they can,” he had claimed.
“When I revealed the conspiracy hatched earlier, during a party rally, they made a retreat from it.”
“The Plan ‘B’ was plotted with the aim to target me under the garb of desecration of the religion. They conducted a campaign for the plan and had neared its success, but life and death are in Allah’s hands.”
During his address, Imran had reiterated he would take to the streets when he is better and will not be ‘confined’ [by such threats].
